Wine 1

On Monday we bottled our wine. We’ve called it a George Bernard Shaw 2006, because the vine in our back garden apparently came from a cutting from his garden, or something like that. Anyway, the wine has been fermenting for the last seven months, and we thought it was time to do the bottling. We completely expected it to taste of vinegar, but it actually tasted ok (although it does look like rosé).

Because of the great weather we’ve been having, I spent the last couple of days working in the back garden and starting to get a tan. Another time when I’m really glad I’m self employed!

Today I went out for a cycle, for the first time in ages. I managed to get out while the weather was still good – it started raining just as I turned back into my road on the way home. The figures from my bike computer are: Distance: 9.81m, Time: 44mins, Average Speed: 13.38mph, Max Speed: 32.11mph.

I haven’t made a wine for ages – I really must get round to it. I have had a lot of successes with whites but I always used to end up using reds for cooking and mulling! I hope yours is a success – feel free to pop over for a trial session and I’ll get my 1997 orange liqueur or apricot brandy out (or all of them for that matter).
