They Stole my Petrol
January 24th 2004, 6:37pm
Last Sunday I got into my car to drive to church. But I only got to the end of the road before the car stopped and refused to start again. At the time I assumed the fuel pump had broken, but after phoning Mike the mechanic I checked the fuel line and discovered that the fuel line had been cut and all the fuel siphoned off.
Yesterday I managed to fix the fuel pipe, but even then I still couldn't start the car (yes, I did put more petrol in). Eventually I had to walk to the station to get Andrew who had come down from Scotland to visit. Today we had another go at the car, and Andrew volunteered to suck petrol down the line manually. He says it doesn't taste as bad as he expected.
Once I'd cranked the engine for a while I finally managed to get the car to start again, and we were then able to go to Warwick to have a look around the town. Hence the picture of Warwick castle, which doesn't have anything to do with the petrol story at all.

Stinking Cold
January 17th 2004, 10:45am
Well, I've not been out taking photos much recently because I've had two colds - the first of which I got in Scotland, the second I got back here. Which is pretty grim. And I've been busy working on a website for a customer which I finally got done last night (Hooray!). Hopefully I will be out and about improving my photography skills again soon, and boring my avid readers.

High Speed Photography
January 10th 2004, 10:45pm
On Thursday night I sent some digital photos the Jessops over the internet for printing. Despite warnings that processing could take up to five days and delivery up to two, the prints arrived this morning. I'm also impressed with the quality of the prints; it's impossible to tell that they're digital prints and not from a normal camera, although I only printed the pictures from my two megapixel camera at seven by five inches. The scanned negatives from my Canon EOS I printed at nine by six inches, and they look great. It makes me want to start saving for an EOS digital camera now.

New Year in Scotland
January 4th 2004, 10:00pm
For the new year I went to Scotland, to visit Andrew, who is manager of Braincroft Bunkhouse, which currently doesn't have a great website, but will soon. The only people I knew there were Andrew and Fiona, both of whom I met in Kenya, but by the time I left I felt like I'd known everyone for years! It was one of the best new years I've had.
You'll find a few new pictures over on the England Photos page. (I'll rename the section to UK Photos at some point, probably).

This sounds like some Kenyan thing. Not done in Mombasa but in Nairobi
