Still Trying For An iPod
March 12th 2006, 11:04pm
I'm still trying to get myself a free iPod. I've got a few people to sign up, but only one has completed their offer, so I still need four more to sign up and complete an offer before I get an iPod. If you're in the UK they have a few good deals - the Screen Select one is probably best, if you like watching DVDs.

Graffiti

This is where I park my car when I'm at work, in a multistorey car park just down the road. It's a council car park, but they don't seem to care as there's no-one there to take your money or to clean the place. It's pretty grim, but it is three pounds cheaper than the next nearest car park, and you're only allowed to park on the road for a couple of hours before you get a ticket, so I don't really have a choice. Actually, walking in would be a far better option - it would only take fifteen minutes from where I live anyway.

Look what the nice man at the tax office sent me this morning. A cheque for £791.90. Isn't that nice?

It's a refund for the tax I paid before I went to Kenya. I had been paying tax as if I was going to keep earning the same amount all year, but then when I went away I ended up only needing to have paid about £50 of tax, so they had to give the rest back.

Battle of the Bands
March 8th 2006, 10:19pm
Last night I was really tired and thought I'd go to bed early. But then John phoned and said he was going to be recording the Battle of the Bands at Warwick Uni and wanted me to go and photograph the event so he'd have pictures to go on his website. So, because I haven't been out to take photos for ages, and haven't been to the students' union at Warwick for nearly a decade, I decided to go despite being so tired.
I wouldn't say all the music was great, but some of the bands were pretty good. But I wasn't paying too much attention to the music most of the time, because I was too busy shooting off photos. I got three hundred and thirty shots, and I like around twenty of them, which is a pretty good rate. Here are two of them. At some point I'll get my new photo album online and then I can put lots of photos on here, instead of just little ones like this.

Snowing There, Not Here
March 5th 2006, 7:42pm
My Auntie Maret in Estonia sent me this photograph, because she thinks they get more snow in Estonia. It's been sunny for a few days though, so a lot of it has melted. She sent me a photo with loads of snow a year or two ago, but I can't find it.
Personally, I'm going to stay out of the arguments about who has the most snow, and show a picture I took yesterday. There's no snow there, and it's starting to feel quite spring-like round here.

Snowing Here and There
March 2nd 2006, 3:27pm
My future mother-in-law sent me some photos of their house, telling me that's what 'real snow' is like, and that the cross-country skiing is great. Well, that's as maybe, but who was it that won three gold medals in cross-country skiing at the olympics this year? Yes, Estonia! (Not too surprising though, as they don't have any hills there to distract people.)
And here's a picture of our back garden I took this morning while it was snowing. It's melted now though. It's probably the most snow we'll get this year. Sometimes I'm glad I live in England!

I spoke too soon - it's now snowing much more than it was this morning. I doubt we'll get anything like as much as Canada, let alone Estonia!
Auntie Maret - if you want to send me a photo of more snow than that, I'll put it on here.
Any other relatives - if you have even more snow at your place, send me a photo too!

Good on Estonia in winning their gold! Canada a little disappointing in that category but hey we are truly happy w/ our women's hockey team and talk about Cindy Klassen!!!
I hope Maret sends a pic as I've never seen Estonia much less its snow!
