My blog - June 2006

In Canada Again

June 25th 2006, 8:23pm

I've been in Canada for nearly two weeks now, so I think it's about time I put another posting on my blog. I would have blogged a while ago, but I wanted to wait until I had a photograph to post as well.

I got plenty of sleep on the flight over here, so it didn't take long to adjust to the time difference. I'm quite tired though, as I'm staying with some people in the NW of Calgary, and Naomi lives in the SW, so I have to drive between the two places every morning and evening - so I get less sleep than usual. This morning I slept in though, so I don't feel quite so tired.

For the first week or so when I go here, it rained. And no, it didn't make me feel at home, because when I left the UK it was hot and sunny! But it's hot and sunny again here now, so yesterday Naomi and I drove over to Canmore to have lunch with a friend of hers. (The church is in Canmore). Afterwards we had to move the car as the parking spot was only for two hours, but as we started to drive we decided to just get back onto the Trans-Canada Highway and keep driving west.

We stopped off quite a bit to take photos on the way (and on the way back), and ended up in BC at the spiral tunnels, where we turned round and came back.

The photograph above is at a creek by the road just east of the tunnels, but I can't remember the name of it. It was a bit like Sherbourne Creek, but it wasn't that. (The Sherbourne is a river in Coventry.) Does anyone know where it is? The photo on the left is from somewhere else. I forget where.

The rest of the time here has been spent either with Naomi or working, fixing the car or watching the world cup. I didn't get to watch the England v. Ecuador game this morning was it was on a channel we don't get, but I hear it wasn't very interesting. I will get to watch the next game, but from the way England are playing it'll probably also be their last. (Although Portugal did their best to make it easy for us, by getting two of their players sent of during their match this morning.)

Great photos. I like the one of the Creek.

Hope weeding plans are going well. Of course I really mean wedding plans!!

Vicki's really looking forward to meeting Naomi.

When's the big day, hope it doesn't clash with the world cup final!!

The Moon

June 11th 2006, 11:57pm

Another load of boxes taken over to my parents today - hopefully only one lot left to take tomorrow. Which will be my last day in Coventry as an unmarried man.

On the way home the moon was looking particularly picturesque, so after getting back I grabbed my camera and drove over to Kenilworth Castle, as I thought it'd look good with the moon in the background. Unfortunately the clouds were starting to cover it when I got there so I didn't quite get the picture I was after, but this one doesn't look bad.

Today I went back to my parents' with another carfull of boxes. It should take another couple of trips I think to get all my stuff over there, and then I go to Canada on Wednesday morning.

While I was there I took a load of photos in their garden. Here's one.

Photographs in Redditch

June 10th 2006, 12:14am

As promised, I took my camera to work and took photographs during my lunch break. Here are three of them.

The photos are taken around Arrow Valley Lake, and in case you can't recognise the birds, they're a Great Crested Grebe and a Mallard with her ducklings.

I Am A Bad Blogger

June 8th 2006, 10:33pm

Only two entries in May and nothing so far in June? I really need to blog more often. After all, there must be hundreds of thousands of people who can't wait to hear what I have to say next.

I've just been rather busy recently though, as I'm going to be leaving the country next week to go and live in Canada for a while, so I can get married at the end of July. So I've been working a lot and packing a little, and having a birthday party and a stag day, and generally not writing blog entries or taking photos.

Today Naomi was looking at Rach's blog (she's my homegroup leader) and so I did too, and then looked at Nick's blog (my pastor), and decided I need to blog more and photograph more. So tomorrow I shall take my camera to work with me and see if I can get any photos during my lunch break. And today I'm writing a blog entry.

Yes, you should definitely blog more, especially with photos like the ones you've added this week. Love the moon at Kenilworth Castle.

How's Canada? Hope you're settling in and things are all going well. Tell Naomi I'll email again soon.

Glad to see I've been some sort of inspiration to you!

More photos needed of BC (and maybe one of Naomi)!!
