This page is where I display comments sent in by you. If you have been to a gig recently (unlikely, since they're not gigging any more) then tell everyone what it was like. If you've just listened to a recording for the first time (or the hundredth time) then give us your opinion of it. If you want to comment on anything to do with Eden Burning, this is the place to do it. (The most recent comments are at the top of the page).

I'm listening to "brink" on my PC right now. Just bought it today, 13-1-99, after hearing Eden Burning in the shop for the first time ever this afternoon. Well, yesterday (it's after midnight). It's great, harkening back to those early seventies poetic bands. My favourites at this stage seem to be "Movers and Shakers" (I agree with Paul's sentiments about the arts changing the world rather than politics), "Let Me Lose", and probably "Stories". I can't think of the titles of the other songs I like as they're still all so new. Sorry they're not going any more but they're so good they've got to resurface in some or other guise.

They were a great band with huge potential, live they were awesome (I 'only' got to 9 gigs in the end) but Greenbelt 96 disappointed me. The record industry is completely insane not to have signed them back in the Vinegar and Brown Paper days, but there is still hope. Come on all you A+R men, hear this awesome band, give them lotsa money and tell the world how wonderful they are! Lets have some real music from 'real people' on our radios! (P.S. I like EB!)

It's a shame that Eden burning broke up just as I was beginning to like them. Just the same as The Wonderstuff and their break up. Who's this band that Dr A J White is on about? (See below) I have tried to find some of their records but have failed misserably. I suppose that they have broken up too.

Eden Burning--what a great band. I saw them live on no less than 5 occassions, Twice at a Boys' Brigade Event called Firm Foundations and three times in Norwich. The Christian music scene will not be the same without them.
Dr A J White
Eden Burning - what a wonderful band! Reminds me of those old folk
masters 'An Evening With Hugo'. If only they could reach the same dizzy
heights of success, we can only dream...

Hi I've just read your page. I like eden burning too. I think their best album is Vinegar and Brown Paper but I have the others too.

I think that Deep Blue Sea hangs together perfectly (it
reminds of crossing something with Elastica's 'Line Up'), it emulates
a real britpop feel (and sounds tonnes better than half the stuff
'britpop' bands churn out!). I mean, I don't like the album for the
fact that it's Eden Burning, but for the fact that it is a great album
with some top tunes (my only complaint is why, oh why, did they not
use the demotape version of With A Kiss ?!). Anyway, we complain too
much!

I've listened to it [brink] about 8/9 times now, and it's grown
on me. I felt the first time that some of the songs, particularly Deep
Blue Sea didn't hang together that well and I couldn't see the point of
the hammond on Another Country, but after a couple of listens I either
got used to it, or could see how it all works. Deep Blue Sea still feels
a bit ragged to me, though. Maybe it'll be better live? I'm looking
forward to seeing them in Feb. Actually, I think they're becoming a
better studio band; brink seems a lot more coherent and mature as an
album than, say, Vinegar, which hung together a lot better on
Smilingly... One thing I would say about brink is that sometimes Paul
sounds like he's stretching his voice a bit - I can't think of any
specific examples (maybe Desire Lines, but I'm not sure) but he sounds a
bit strained now and then. Mowf's bass playing does it for me, though:
I've always had a thing about bass lines, and Mowf's are so much more
interesting than Nive's, it really makes the songs a lot better. I love
it (especially the fretless and the octave pedal!). I can't think of a
highlight off-hand, but Let Me Lose is gorgeous, and I love Movers and
Shakers. Mind you, I do like most of it. Big Regret is a little
tum-ti-tum, possibly...?

I just rediscovered my EB CD the other day, and I must say that
it is real good (I only have Vinegar and Brown Paper at the moment).
Too bad I live in the U.S. and can't see them any time soon, and don't
have access to the other albums and such only available in the U.K.
Maybe some day, hint, hint... .

'Eden Burning' rocks. Their musicianship is excellent, and so are the
lyrics. I've managed to sell my family and many of my friends on them.
Now, they've got to tour the U.S. and stop by Wheaton College!

I'd just like to say that the Homepage is brilliant - cheers for doing it!
Also, I got that sampler tape and I have to say that the new stuff is
certainly making them more accessible to the mainstream market (Desert & The
Garden is great live...). Anyone else agree?

This band is pucka! I wish they would tour Georgia (U.S.). However,
if I come to the UK I will seek out a show to see!
John Morton (morton.6@osu.edu)
Absolutely love them. They need to get more music over here in the U.S.
The only album I've heard is vinegar & brown paper. Words, music... A+.
Is it me or does 'If I Go Up' sound like R.E.M. without a flaw?
P.S. If anyone reading this lives in downtown London I'd love to hear
from you. (I have a Christian friend that just moved back to London, her
home, after being in the U.S. for 5+ years and could use some Christian
friends.
Mark Hague (He's in a band called Haven)
I've seen Eden Burning at Crossfire festival and of course Greenbelt.
They are very good!

They have just finished a splendid Irish tour and they were really
excellent, especially when they played with local band
Halcyon Days.

Eden Burning continue a tradition in rock that began with Sandy Denny,
Fairport Convention, Lindisfarne and other greats of the time. Finding
Eden Burning was like rediscovering some of my my favorite moments in
rock. Their lyrics stem from a Christian worldview and show another side
to the medieval roots that birthed these musical forms. The only thing
wrong with Eden Burning is that they never come to California.
Andy Bannister
A Christian band who are not only musically superb but whose lyrics
actually possess a real depth and quality. I have bought every
album/single and can only say that they are going from strength to
strength!
Charlie Ingram - I think this is what he says on the video:
Folk, indie, sort of middle of the road folk nonsense.
