Today I went to the Peak District to take photos. I left here at ten o’clock, called in at Go Outdoors to buy an OS map of the area, and got to Derwent Reservoir at twenty past twelve. I would have got there earlier but I got a bit lost driving around the country roads near the reservoir.<\/p>\n
I didn’t have any plans except to take some photos of the dam, but after parking up and taking some pictures I started walking along the path by the reservoir to see if I could get some more pictures. Then I came across a stream coming down off the hills, with a footpath, so I headed up the path to see where it went. And then I kept walking because it was quite nice up there. I check my map to make sure I’d be able to get back to the car reasonably quickly, and there was about a five mile loop I could do, so I carried on.<\/p>\n
It took about two and a half hours altogether – I was walking quite fast on the level, but I was only wearning trainers rather than walking boots, and ended up getting a blister which slowed me down. And I kept stopping to take photos as well. When I feel like it (maybe tomorrow afternoon?) I’ll put some of them on this website.<\/p>\n

On the way home I was driving through Chesterfield and noticed that the church had a twisted, crooked spire. I think I’ve heard about it before, but I didn’t know where it was until today. So I stopped and took a load of pictures of that as well.<\/p>\n
And then I cam home. Via a petrol station, to get some petrol and some food, as I hadn’t taken any with me. Thankfully I did remember to have breakfast before I went though, otherwise I would really have run out of energy.<\/p>\n
It was really beautiful up there – I don’t think the photographs really capture it very well. I’m going to have to go back another day, because there were other things I saw in the distance which I wanted to photograph, but they were too far away to walk to today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
