The chinook is well gone now, and the temperature hasn’t been above minus three for a week. In fact, it’s generally been about minus fifteen during the day, with cold peaks of minus twenty-three. There’s snow everywhere, and I’m starting to get used to driving on it with winter tyres. (And before anyone complains that I’ve spelt tyres wrong in the title – no I haven’t – winter is very tiring.) But I only have two days left here before I return to England. People tell me it’s been very cold in England recently, but I quite like the sound of a very cold England, as it’ll be much warmer than a not very cold Canada. And anyway, on Friday it’s supposed to be ten degrees in Leicester, according to the BBC’s weather forecast.
