It was going to be a weekly thing, but I think I&#8217;m more likely to keep it up if I can&#8217;t fail until the end of the year &#8211; there&#8217;s (nearly) always time to catch up. And I&#8217;m already behind, not having cooked anything new yet.<\/p>\n<p>I hope to cook some interesting new dishes during this year, and also learn some new techniques &#8211; especially around baking. And since I have a new blow torch, I guess cr\u00e8me br\u00fbl\u00e9e should be on the list. Hmm, maybe I should make a list of things I want to make&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>cr\u00e8me br\u00fbl\u00e9e<\/li>\n<li>Welsh rarebit<\/li>\n<li>something with cr\u00e8me patissi\u00e8re<\/li>\n<li>sweet chili sauce<\/li>\n<li>injera, and other Ethiopian food<\/li>\n<li>souffl\u00e9<\/li>\n<li>hand raised pork pie<\/li>\n<li>lemon meringue pie<\/li>\n<li>baked alaska<\/li>\n<li>something with spun sugar<\/li>\n<li>baked cheesecake<\/li>\n<li>smoked foods<\/li>\n<li>battenburg cake<\/li>\n<li>poutine (with homemade cheese curds)<\/li>\n<li>a massaman curry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That&#8217;s a start, at least.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As a new year&#8217;s resolution, I decided that I would cook fifty-two things this year that I haven&#8217;t cooked before.
