At Church this morning, Nick asked what our favourite film was. I forget why (sorry Nick). But it got me thinking, and to start with I couldn’t really think of a favourite. I know it used to be Shawshank Redemption, and while it’s still one of my favourites, I don’t think it would come top of the list any more. Although I still really enjoy the look on the prison warden’s face when he rips Rita Hayworth off the wall.
Generally, I’m not a very extreme kind of person, so I don’t have a lot of favourites. Ok, so if I’ve taken a load of photographs, it’s often reasonably easy to pick a favourite, because most of them will be decidedly average, and probably only one will really stand out. If any. But if I tried to pick a favourite photograph from a hundred photos taken by great photographers, I’d have a much harder choice to make. I’m more likely to say that some are kind of better than others, and I don’t like some so much. But picking a favourite, hmm, that’s a bit to extreme for me!
However, I think I do know what my favourite film would have to be. It’s The Matrix. It’s only The Matrix if you ignore the sequels; just pretend they were never made. I’ve watched that film probably more than twenty times, and I still haven’t got bored of it yet. I can’t think of any other films that I’ve been able to watch that often.
I bet that I’ll have changed my mind by tomorrow though.
