As a new year’s resolution, I decided that I would cook fifty-two things this year that I haven’t cooked before. It was going to be a weekly thing, but I think I’m more likely to keep it up if I can’t fail until the end of the year – there’s (nearly) always time to catch up. And I’m already behind, not having cooked anything new yet.
I hope to cook some interesting new dishes during this year, and also learn some new techniques – especially around baking. And since I have a new blow torch, I guess crème brûlée should be on the list. Hmm, maybe I should make a list of things I want to make…
- crème brûlée
- Welsh rarebit
- something with crème patissière
- sweet chili sauce
- injera, and other Ethiopian food
- soufflé
- hand raised pork pie
- lemon meringue pie
- baked alaska
- something with spun sugar
- baked cheesecake
- smoked foods
- battenburg cake
- poutine (with homemade cheese curds)
- a massaman curry
That’s a start, at least.
