Naomi and I spent the weekend fixing up our car. Yesterday we went to Pick’n’Pull, but didn’t know where it was and ended up at Buck’s Auto Parts instead, which was good because they had a Golf and a Jetta with nearly all the parts we needed, including new headlights and a whole stack of other parts, which came to only fifty dollars. And while we were there, another guy came along looking for Golf headlights. He’d already been to Pick’n’Pull and not found any, so we were glad we’d gone to Buck’s instead.
Then we got home, and I closed the sunroof and the handle snapped off. So today we went back to Buck’s where we got a few more bits, but no handle, and then we went to Pick’n’Pull and got a handle and a couple of rear speakers which fit our car. And then came home and fitted everything to the car. Here’s a list of what we’ve done to it:
- Changed both headlights (the old ones were cracked), which had a side effect…
- …the front grille now clips on properly
- Fitted sunroof handle
- Put in a new ashtray (the old one was the wrong colour)
- Fitted a strut to hold the bonnet up (we didn’t have one before)
- Changed one set of taillights so they match now (we used to have one red indicator and one orange, now both are orange)
- Fitted the radio aerial
- Installed a rain tray (now we shouldn’t get puddles in the car when it rains)
- Installed rear speakers (which still need to be wired up)
- Replaced the boot light switch
- Replaced the windscreen wipers
- Covered the holes in the doors where the wing mirror adjusters would have been
We still have a whole load of things to do before we sell the car, but it’s starting to look a lot more saleable than it was.
Hi James,
Great looking blog site, I like the maps showing places you have visited, maybe you could include links to blogs you have written about them?
See you soon
